Business, political and personal papers from Francis Armstrong, William Francis Armstrong, and Orrin Porter Rockwell. Francis Armstrong: Personal papers include biographical and geneological material; naturalization papers; will; and various other documents. Financial items include tax notices and receipts, promissory notes and agreements, and stock related items from the Utah Southern Railway; dating between 1860 and 1899. Property documents consist of various deeds, leases, mortgages, etc. Business Enterprises items reach from 1870 to his death in 1899. These include items from Armstrong and Bagley Lumber Company (1870-1879); Salt Lake Railway (1880-1899); Roscoe Ranch and Stock Company (1890-1899); Utah Commercial and Savings bank (1890-1899); Blackfoot Cattle Company (1890-1899); and Short Horn Sheep Breeding (1890-1899). William Francis Armstrong: Property documents consist mainly of deeds, mortgages and leases. The section for Banks and Banking deals specifically with the Utah Commercial and Savings bank and focuses largely on the financial crisis and examination that resulted in the bank finally being dissolved in 1918. Also includes daily routine items. Financial documents contain statements of accounts for both the Utah State National Bank and the Deseret National Bank, miscellaneous notes and receipts, and cancelled checks, 1899-1922. Business records consist of a variety of manuscript envelopes and items from the Standard Furniture Company. Orrin Porter Rockwell: The papers of this legendary figure include mostly receipts and notes. A few bear his signatory X, since he was illiterate. A copy of his estate distribution is included. Photographs have been removed and filed separately in a C collection under the same number.
